Angera, today a splendid holiday town on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, has returned the most ancient evidence of human presence in the Varese area and was already in ancient times an important traffic station along the river-lake trade routes straddling the Alps. , conducted starting from the end of the 19th century, continue frequently even today and always return significant finds, carefully collected, studied and exhibited to the public in a didactic guise that is updated from year to year.

The Civic Archaeological Museum, located in the centre of the town, is housed in a beautiful fifteenth-century building and collects the most important historical evidence of the area. It is the number 1 site of the Widespread Museum of Angera.

The Museum places some publications of local and archaeological interest at the disposal of visitors and is finally equipped with an elevator and toilets also for the disabled, an armchair for relaxation and breastfeeding, a changing table, a multifunctional room for exhibitions, conferences, and educational workshops.
