Angera, inhabited since the Paleolithic, became an important commercial hub in Roman times and a fundamental centre of control of the territory in the Middle Ages. 
Its history, uninterrupted up to the present day, can be read through the finds kept in the Civic Archaeological Museum. 
Its extraordinarily preserved landscapes, monuments and ancient and recent works make up a veritable open-air museum. 
The Widespread Museum has been created in 2016 as a project of the Municipality of Angera to raise awareness of the local heritage and to discover the countless beauties of the city. To date, the Widespread Museum includes 57 historical, artistic and landscape sites including the works of #andrearavomattoni, an internationally renowned artist.
