{"id":6754,"date":"2026-03-09T18:21:26","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T17:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/angera.org\/luogo\/roman-well-and-road\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T12:56:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T10:56:14","slug":"roman-well-and-road","status":"publish","type":"luogo","link":"https:\/\/www.angera.it\/en\/luogo\/roman-well-and-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Roman well and road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1st-3rd century AD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During excavations conducted in 2005 at the corner between Via Mazzini and Via San Martino (in the area where the Rossi Distillery stood) interesting Roman remains were found. These include part of a 1st century AD road, which may be seen inside a garage. The southern portion, with a regular cobbled surface, joined onto the main road which constituted the final portion of the <em>Mediolanum Verbannus<\/em> road, the modern Via Mazzini &#8211; Via Greppi.
